Volunteer » Faith Build Habitat for Humanity is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about bringing hope and transforming lives. It is about serving God by serving others. Habitat for Humanity was created to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, so it is natural that the church—Christ’s body in the world—should be a primary partner in Habitat’s work. The vision of Habitat is that all people have a decent, affordable place in which to live. Trust in God propels this movement forward and helps change the world—one family at a time. Habitat for Humanity affiliates benefit from all the contributions that churches make to this ministry. The prayer, financial and volunteer support that churches provide is the backbone of Habitat’s work. Beginning in 2007, Iberia Habitat for Humanity plans to organize at least one annual "Faith Build" - inviting the faith community of Iberia Parish to put their faith into action through helping build a safe, decent affordable home for a deserving family. This fall, we plan to coordinate the "Faith Building" of a single family home with the partnership of multiple religious organizations. If your congregation is interested in taking part in this effort, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator. |
